Essential Ingredients:
100 gms Split Red Gram
4 Potatoes
4 Onions
1/2 Coconut
1 tsp Tamarind Paste
6 Red Chilly
1/2 tsp Fenugreek
Oil
Salt to taste
Cooking Instructions:
Cut potatoes into large pieces after peeling. Wash and boil gram and when gram is half cooked add potatoes. Boil till potatoes are soft, add salt. Roast fenugreek using a little oil. Grind together coconut, red chillies, roasted fenugreek and tamarind to a fine paste. Add ground spices to gram and potatoes with sufficient liquid to barely cover solids. Boil till spices are cooked. Remove. Heat oil fry finely chopped onions. When golden brown pour over ambat and mix well.
